Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our team and take a lead role in managing and enhancing our data governance framework. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data governance, data management, and data quality, with a strong understanding of data standards, policies, and compliance requirements. As a Senior Data Governance Analyst, you will be responsible for establishing and enforcing data governance policies, ensuring data quality, and supporting data management initiatives to drive business value and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Governance Framework:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain the data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures for data management and quality.
    • Establish data governance structures, including data stewardship roles, data governance committees, and data governance councils.
    • Ensure alignment of data governance practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  2. Data Quality Management:

    • Define and implement data quality metrics, standards, and processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
    • Conduct data quality assessments, identify data quality issues, and develop remediation plans to address data quality gaps.
    • Monitor and report on data quality performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  3. Data Management and Integration:

    • Oversee the management of data assets, including data classification, data lineage, and metadata management.
    • Collaborate with IT and data management teams to ensure effective data integration, data architecture, and data warehousing solutions.
    • Support data migration and data integration projects, ensuring data integrity and consistency across systems.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with data-related regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and support data privacy and security initiatives.
    • Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to manage data risks and protect sensitive information.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments of data governance practices and recommend improvements as needed.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement and Training:

    • Collaborate with business units, data stewards, and other stakeholders to promote data governance best practices and drive adoption.
    • Develop and deliver training programs and materials to enhance data governance knowledge and awareness across the organization.
    • Act as a subject matter expert on data governance and data management, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
  6. Data Governance Tools and Technologies:

    • Evaluate and implement data governance tools and technologies to support data management, data quality, and data governance processes.
    • Manage and maintain data governance systems, including metadata repositories, data catalogs, and data quality monitoring tools.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data governance technologies and methodologies.
  7. Reporting and Analytics:

    • Generate and present reports on data governance activities, data quality metrics, and compliance status to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Analyze data governance performance and provide recommendations for enhancing data governance practices and processes.
    • Use data analytics to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improving data governance and management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role, with a proven track record in implementing data governance frameworks and managing data quality.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies, such as data catalogs, metadata management, and data quality monitoring tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in project management and process improvement, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in data governance or data management, such as Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
  • Experience with data privacy and security best practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with data integration and data warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data analytics concepts.
