Job description

Grinding, Lapping, Polishing, and Buffing Machine Tool Setters, Operators, and Tenders are responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring machinery that processes metal and plastic parts to achieve precise dimensions and surface finishes. They ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup: Set up grinding, lapping, polishing, and buffing machines by adjusting controls, selecting appropriate tools and abrasives, and calibrating equipment according to specifications.
  • Operation Monitoring: Operate machinery and monitor production processes to ensure optimal performance, making adjustments as needed to maintain desired quality and efficiency.
  • Quality Inspection: Inspect finished parts for conformity to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and surface quality.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on machines and tools, troubleshooting any issues and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production data, including machine settings, production quantities, and any defects or adjustments made during processing.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and quality control teams to improve processes and ensure the final products meet customer expectations.
