Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Computer Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing computer systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively. As a Computer Operator, you will perform routine system checks, handle data entry tasks, and troubleshoot issues to ensure continuous system performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Monitoring and Operation:

    • Monitor and operate computer systems and peripheral equipment, ensuring they function correctly and efficiently.
    • Perform regular system checks and diagnostics to identify and address any issues that may arise.
    • Execute and monitor batch jobs, including data processing and system backups, to ensure they complete successfully.
  2. Data Entry and Processing:

    • Input, update, and maintain data in various systems and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Verify and validate data entries to prevent errors and discrepancies.
    • Generate and distribute reports based on data processing activities as required.
  3. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

    • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with computer systems, applications, and hardware.
    • Coordinate with IT support teams to resolve issues and implement solutions.
    • Document problems and resolutions to build a knowledge base for future reference.
  4. System Maintenance and Upgrades:

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including applying updates, patches, and configuration changes to systems and software.
    • Assist with system upgrades and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
    • Maintain accurate records of system maintenance activities and changes.
  5. Security and Compliance:

    • Adhere to security policies and procedures to protect organizational data and systems.
    • Monitor and manage user access controls and permissions to ensure compliance with security protocols.
    • Assist with audits and inspections to ensure systems meet regulatory and organizational standards.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed documentation of system operations, procedures, and issues.
    • Prepare and present reports on system performance, data processing activities, and any incidents or anomalies.
    • Provide updates to management on system status, maintenance activities, and incident resolution.
  7. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with IT staff, management, and other departments to support operational needs and address system-related issues.
    • Communicate effectively with users to provide support and guidance on system usage and troubleshooting.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on process improvements and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications are a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a computer operations role or a related field, with hands-on experience in system monitoring and data entry.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix) and system monitoring tools.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and hardware components.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and system operations.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with users and IT staff professionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with system administration or technical support.
  • Knowledge of database management and data processing concepts.
  • Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance requirements.
  • Certifications related to computer operations or IT support.
